Homeland Takes Strides Toward Sustainable Operations with Singh360 Energy Efficiency Software
Medina, MN (January 22nd, 2024) – Homeland, with 77 grocery stores in Oklahoma Texas, Kansas and
Georgia, has announced its goal to reduce overall enterprise energy consumption per square foot
(kWh/sq.ft.) by 15% over the next three years. This initiative underscores Homeland’s commitment to
environmental sustainability. Their plans to upgrade or build all stores will incorporate higher energy
efficiency standards.
Energy Director at Homeland, Darrin Stogsdill, emphasizes the significance of this move, stating, “It is critical for us to reduce one of our largest controllable expenses. We aim to make our stores energy-efficient while also incorporating refrigerants with lower Global Warming Potential (GWP).”
Future designs for Homeland stores will feature natural CO2 refrigerants and lower GWP hydrocarbon refrigerants, showcasing their dedication to environmental consciousness. All new and remodeled stores will boast highly efficient refrigeration and HVAC systems.
The Singh360 Energy Analytics App, a state-of-the-art solution developed by Singh360, has played a crucial role in quantifying Homeland Grocery’s achievements over the past five years. The app highlighted Homeland’s remarkable conservation efforts, resulting in the saving of an impressive 54 million kWh of electricity. This noteworthy accomplishment reflects Homeland Grocery’s unwavering commitment to minimizing its environmental impact.
Expressing contentment with the outcomes, Darrin Stogsdill, the Director of Facilities at Homeland Grocery stated, “We have achieved a commendable 15% reduction in energy consumption per square foot. This not only underscores our dedication to sustainability but also contributes significantly to cost savings.”
Tracking and Monitoring Energy Efficiency
Homeland has adopted the Singh360 energy efficiency software suite, “360-Energy,” across all their stores to monitor and track energy efficiency. The software initially benchmarks the efficiency of each store and the overall enterprise, identifying stores that operate inefficiently. With this insight, Singh360 and Homeland collaborate to develop a plan to enhance overall efficiency and monitor energy savings over time.
Utilizing various tools offered by the Singh360, Homeland accurately calculates savings. President of Singh360, Abtar Singh, highlights, “The software calculates savings by normalizing for changes in weather and refrigeration BTU, adding a new level of accuracy not seen in many other software solutions.”
As Homeland Grocery continues to spearhead sustainability initiatives, the implementation of the Singh360 Energy Analytics App stands as a testament to its commitment to creating a greener, more energy-efficient retail environment.
